Early Modern Expert nominated for award recognising achievment and excellence

Dr Andy Kesson has been nominated for an Aimhigher Practitioner Award by Aimhgher London.
The Aimhigher Practitioner Awards 2019 celebrate the achievement and endeavours of staff within schools and colleges, higher education providers and local authorities who are dedicated to widening participation.
This nomination is a recognition of Dr Kesson’s efforts to make a positive difference within the University as well as representing Roehampton in the wider community by participating in projects that make education accessible. Over the last year, Dr Kesson has facilitated schools' engagement with Wimbledon BookFest, co-organised events centred on making early modern theatre relevant and interesting to local communities and worked with local school groups, introducing them to the place of women and migrant communities in building the theatres of Shakespeare's time.
Dr Jane Kingsley-Smith, acting Head of Department says ‘the ethos and values of Aimhigher are closely aligned with our own in the Department of English and Creative Writing at Roehampton. We are delighted that Dr Kesson’s dedication to promoting inclusivity and disseminating research has been recognised’.
The winner of the award will be announced at a ceremony on July 11.
