Feature film launch for creative writing alumni

Former BA Creative Writing student Andy Lewis, and former MA Creative Writing student Jake Horowitz are celebrating the release of their Christmas feature film Cup of Cheer

The pair met while studying at Roehampton and now both live in Canada where the movie is set. Cup of Cheer tells the story of Mary, a hot shot city journalist, who falls in love with a hot cocoa shop owner while on a winter holiday in the small town of Snowy Heights.  If the plot sounds a bit cheesy don't be put off, as it's very much a satire of the traditional Chrismas movie as Andy, originally from Hillingdon, explains: "When I lived at home, my mum would always watch those cheesy American TV Christmas films on Channel 5, and she would enjoy making fun of them and predicting the next line. So, I guess the seed of that idea was already planted from when I grew up in Hillingdon.”

Cup Of Cheer has just become the number one movie at the box office in Canada and has had rave reviews in the United States.  UK audiences can watch it on the Sky Store, Amazon, iTunes, and Virgin from December 7.
