Wimbledon Bookfest Returns for 2020

Like so much this year, many events have changed and taken different forms. Wimbledon Bookfest stepped up to the challenge with its Last Days of Summer Live Festival.
Offering one of the only physical arts events this summer, at which safety was paramount with social distancing and other measures in place, The Last Days of Summer Live Festival held between 11-14th September offered a strong line up of topical, engaging events with household name speakers that included David Cameron, Jeremy Vine, Ruby Wax, David Nicholls and Jessie Burton.
Over the four days Roehampton journalism students got involved in work placements, reporting on the events as they happened, gaining real-world experience with our partner, Wimbledon Bookfest.
The Digital Bookfest, which took place in an online format throughout October, included the Roehampton lecture series, Critical Minds, featuring leading academics giving mini-lectures about a relevant and interesting snippet of research. This year, Dr Alison Lamont, Department of Social Sciences, gave a talk titled 'What is so social about social media?' and Dr Neil Williams, School of Humanities, gave a talk titled 'How to value nature (before it's too late)'.
