Widening Participation

The University of Roehampton offers a number of Schools and Colleges Engagement activities to partner schools and colleges for a range of age groups.

We also offer several Widening Participation (WP) programmes which are aimed at groups traditionally under-represented in Higher Education.

The Horizons Project

The Horizons Project is a sustained engagement academic enrichment programme run in partnership with Putney High School. The programme currently consists of a series of short virtual, subject focussed activities which raise aspirations for and awareness of Higher Education. The programme is for students in Years 5-6. The Horizons Project 2020 – 2022 will be delivered virtually, with the hope of welcoming the participants to our campus when possible.

Aimhigher London

We work collaboratively with the team at Aimhigher London to support activities such as conferences, subject taster sessions, student life sessions and more. These sessions and events aim to raise the aspirations of young people, leading to informed choices about their future and the possible routes after secondary school and/or college.

UniConnect

Our team host our own specific UniConnect events and support those at other UniConnect Partner London Universities to work with target groups of learners and the adults that work with them. The UniConnect events offer a structured and progressive programme of events for learners from Year 9 to 13, looking to reduce the gap with under-represented groups in higher education.

Mature Student Programme

Our Mature Student Programme is a three week programme, running three different times in the year and covering various different support sessions. These sessions cover a number of topics to help prepare Mature Students to apply and prepare them for University by offering guidance and support. Sessions vary from writing a personal statement, funding and academic support, admissions FAQ’s and extended degree options.
